Charlotte-based Firebirds will open its third area restauran t ina 6,711-square-foot space at the Sharon Road entrancd to Morrison in the spring. The two-level spaces was designed specifically to accommodate an upscale dininbg restaurant and is adjacent to corne sites being built for Capitol andBarnea & Noble stores that will open next spring. It's the 13th restaurang in the chainfor Firebirds, the brainchilsd of local restaurateur Dennis Thompson. Firebirdxs restaurants feature Colorado-inspired cuisinr and décor. Flame-grilled steaks, seafood, salads and more are servedr in a lodge setting with exposed wood beams andan open-air Outdoor terrace seating will also be available.
"The flavor of our food and dininyg experience is authentic to what you wouled findout West," Thompson says. "It's the kind of placr where you can grab an incrediblde burger before a movie or realluy relax with a steak and a great bottldeof wine." Firebirds was recently named the 21st-fastest-growing restauranf chain in America by Restaurant Business magazine. Othef Charlotte locations include Stonecrest andNorthlake Mall. Charlotte has embraces the homegrown concept since it starteddin 2000, Thompson says. "W e think this new location puts us in the hearf ofthe market, and we hope to become a favorite in SouthPark as well," he says.
Jana Foremanh of Grubb Properties negotiated the leasefor Morrison. Firebirds joins tenants at Morrisonj that includeEarth Fare, Varji & Varjii Salon and Spa, winestore, Laughing Buddha Yoga Arooji's Wine Room and Drapery Ever After. Plannee openings through next spring includeBarnes & Noble, Capitol, Asana Activewear, Yama Asian Fusion Restauranty and Stickley Furniture.
