The subsidiary opened the three-bay maintenance facility in January but held off on the ribbonj cutting until key personnel were andthey “got a little airplane grease under thei nails,” Compass president Tim Campbell said duringb a news conference. Compass’ 70 employees maintain the airline’ws fleet of 36 Embraer 175 76-seart jets. Compass, which was founded in 2006 as a subsidiaru of NorthwestAirlines Inc., was acquiref by Delta as part of the Atlanta-based carrier’es merger with Northwest in Octobert 2008. The jets previously had been servicex bya third-party aircraft maintenance company, Campbelkl said.
Compass’ Louisville International Airport facility, located at 5101 Crittendenj Drive, consists of 42,720 square feet of aircraft hangafr space, 11,416 square feet of office, shop and storagse space, an 80,601-square-foot concrete apron and 33,480 squars feet of parking and roadways. At the news Chantilly, Va.-based Compass showed off its firsr jet painted in the Delta The rest of its fleet will be convertede from Northwest Airlines colors over the next Campbell said.
